A Destination
Not on the map.
It may be a natural occurrence
Yet something I have rarely seen
A process I was not au fait with
A new place where I’ve never been.
Something I consider extraordinary
A circumstance I term exceptional
Surprising, strange, weird, and freaky
An event that has no parallel.
A trip unplanned in the morning
A destination not on the map
A walk-in unusual circumstance
Into a blind man’s trap.
It started with a minor distraction
Next second headlong on the ground
Shock followed by disorientation
No longer feeling safe and sound.
Staggering home in pain and anguish
Gritting teeth to endure the ordeal
Straight from left field and surprising
Hard to describe exactly how I feel.
In a split second, my life’s interrupted
What’s taken for granted up and gone
Summoning new strength and temerity
Ingredients I need to carry on.
Dark nights followed by misty mornings
To the naked eye, all remains the same
It was simply an unfortunate accident
An unknown event that exceptionally came.
