A Lamp of Light

To show the way.

In the night, a speck of light
An ounce of optimism
Glowing through the darkness
A glimpse of altruism.

From a place outside my mind
A position of perception
I felt the warmth engulf my soul.
The candle of conception.

As the light illuminates
The cool, clear morning sky
I stand back and close my eyes.
And listen to my sigh.

When the weight is so great
It’s hard to carry on.
And wait for specks of morning light.
To feast my eyes upon.

The trees stand still as sentinels.
The breeze weaves its morning song.
The rustle, then the bustle
And a feeling I belong.

So far from the city lights
The stars sparkle and fizz.
It seems so very natural.
That’s the way nature is.

A lamp of light to lead the way
The friendly crunch of frost
The light has reached inside me.
When, before, I was lost.
