Alacrity

Modes that make my day

The sun and moon and stars at night,
Blue skies and the Bay,
The brisk breeze and alacrity,
Are modes that make my day.

I am aware of the scare,
And understand the reasons,
Though I am not afraid,
As I observe the seasons.

Everything is different now,
Adapt with due alacrity,
I cherish each breath I take,
With pleasure and avidity.

There are simple sayings,
Philosophies and the tried and true,
Time to define what feels sublime,
Smile and not get blue.

Careless conspiracy theories,
Negativity and denial,
Staying tuned and not ruined,
With a smile on the dial.

Care kindness and connection,
Doing what is right,
And the times for writing rhymes,
Morning, noon and night.

The evolving inspiration,
Through the Medium of words,
Moving with alacrity,
Gathering what I’ve heard.

We’re all in this together,
Let’s do our very best,
To share and care and never,
Succumb to the test.
