An Image of Imagination
The feeling when I awaken
I search in my mind for a symbol,
And a further creative pursuit,
An image of imagination,
Something that’s apt and would suit.
A word I have heard in the ether,
A feeling that fired and inspired,
A moment chosen that is frozen,
Or something my mind has acquired.
Words in a book or music,
A moment of peace in a park,
A chimera I didn’t care for,
Or the evening song of a lark.
The music loved by my mother,
An adagio, sombre and sleek,
The beat of my feet on the dance floor,
A place where we used to meet.
A breeze in the heat of summer,
The leaves turning grey green and gold,
The time when I was a child,
The stories my father told.
A drive in the windswept country,
Green hills, windmills, and the dawn,
The feeling when I awaken,
Expression when I stretch and yawn.
An image of imagination,
A rainbow that lights up my life,
Soft rain on a stretch of garden,
Free from trouble and strife.
These are the words that fly like birds,
And brighten a screen in my mind,
Sentiments of inspiration,
As I watch these thoughts unwind.
