Articles of Faith

The ethos.

Are they remnants and reminders
Or something that I read
More likely an article of faith
Secured by a fragile thread

Attached to my understanding
The way I believe is right
An ethos that I was brought up by
And part of my inner sight

Deep within the depths of justice
Belong compassion and love
The articles most adhered to
Messages from my angels up above

I walked down the aisle of remembrance
With thoughts of battles fought before
And who was left there standing
And who still waits at heaven’s door

I look at the person beside me
The one who is holding my hand
He looks a lot like me, you see
Things we both understand

I’ve read the reviews and commentary
written by someone I know
The main account and special feature
Of the earth and seeds I sow

Out the window, dwells the garden
The smell of damp earth and the rain
The soft grey skies of the morning
beat a beautiful refrain
