Articles of Life

Lost and found.

Along the road, I’ve eased the load.
And left articles and people behind.
Now and then, I think ken.
Some things lost are redefined.

Though lost, they’re not forgotten.
Figments remaining in my mind
Names surface from the nether
Laced, woven and intertwined.

With the fabric of my lifetime
Interlaced written and unsigned
Who emerges seems a strange enigma.
And can be any sort or kind.

Like mist on a summer evening
Drifting carelessly over the sea
A picture emerges, though indistinct.
When focused on something, that I see.

I searched behind balls of cotton.
And stumbled into pastures of gold.
The articles I remembered
Some lost, others bartered or some are sold.

In a carpet of green on the hillside
I saw peace and tranquillity rise.
And knew then I was near to
The lost and elusive prize.
