Poetic Essences
Autumn Reminders
The gift of life.
As leaves turn golden
And wilt and fall
Days have gone, and olden
I remember them all.
Deviations from the path
Stumbles and falls
The happiness and pain
Tears and enthralls.
Words of emotion
Deep from the heart
Of love and devotion
Right from the start.
Words said that bled in rivers
Reacting to pain
Or misplaced moments
Standing in the rain.
Hiding in retreat
Tender and hurt
A heartfelt entreat
Left on alert.
Each leaf that falls
Is a memory gone
Our plaintiff calls
Seasonal dawn.
Lessons learned
We teach each other
The moments of magic
One after another.
Nurture the love
And let it grow
Don’t walk out of
The love that we know.
In the dawn, I stretch and yawn
And embrace each passing day
While leaves may fall, that’s not all
The gift of life is here to stay.
