Behind

My eyes.

When you look into my eyes
you cannot see behind
at the insights in my memory
imprinted on my mind.

You’ll never see what I have seen
or know the reason why
and you can’t know how I feel
even if you try.

They say the eyes are windows
the windows to the soul
and looking deep into my eyes
you can see the whole.

Extent of who I am
but is it just a charade
and what you’re looking at
is only a façade.

The mysteries of imagination
and dreams not realised
a journey to another time
is what you may have spied.

But you don’t know and never will
the things that I have seen
unrealised and unimagined
even in a dream.

Sometimes my mind takes a walk
and a stroll into the past
to secrets stored behind my eyes
things that will always last.

So, when you look into my eyes
you cannot see behind
at the insights in my memory
imprinted on my mind.
