Dance and Dare.

Slicing through crystal waters
With bursts of electric speed
Leaping above the sparkling sea
Looking for something to feed.

Without a care, they dance and dare
And frolic by our side
In the cool clear waters of Jervis Bay
Their home where they reside.

Watch the people leaning out
Flashing bulbs past us, they swim
Then leap out of the water
Only on a whim.

They cavort and play together
And speed abreast
Then dive into the deep water
Though very rarely rest.

They come up for air and for a dare
Swim alongside our boat and leap
Then dive as soon as they arrive
Into the dark blue deep.

They hunt together in a pod
And move with startling speed
And herd silverfish into position
For their daily feed.

Every day in Jervis Bay
They’ve made this place their home
With their friends the Humpback whales
Where they search and roam.
