Door Chimes

Full of rhymes.

Church bells ringing
People singing
Christmas songs and carols
Doorbells chiming
Lover’s sighing
Roll out the barrels
Poetic verses
In harmony rhyming
I knock on your door
You know the score
And knew I would return
Lie on the floor
And breathe no more
And carefully discern
Is it lover’s sigh?
Or another high
The question asked
The spell now cast
A stranger or a friend
Now at long last
Out of the past
Is it without end?
Or end up
A dead-end
The doorbell chimes
That’s full of rhymes
A ghost out of the past
Past loves crimes
In modern times
Or ships passing
By my door.
