Falling
In love.
The juice the joy and joining
a mind that’s gone awry
pleasure in the paddock
then it’s time to cry.
Falling in love can be fatuous
two bodies and desire
the only way to break it
is some water on the fire.
If it’s real some may seal
it with a kiss and wedding ring
a sure way to return to your senses
and the routine that it will bring.
Have some kids, be on the skids,
is sure to break the habit
or for the more rabid,
can breed like a rabbit.
I’ve been in love and married
and that sure slowed me down
I had fun, kids and a family
and thought I wore the crown!
Then the remorse of a divorce
took years and years to heal
sort of like going numb
took time to restore the zeal.
I’ve learned we all are different
and marked by times of sadness
though have come to understand
falling in love is sheer madness.
Miles of mixed emotions
few dreams that will come true
then like a strike of lightning
love comes out of the blue.
I can feel, like a meal
I’m replete and satisfied
when romance does her dance
like a crazy joyride.
I use my imagination now
and never need to roam
sweet nothings from my fingers
a poem sent from home!
