A fact or a farce?

Things have changed and rearranged.
This space has lost it’s spice.
It’s the algorithms on Medium
That now set the price.

Everyone has a theory.
What to write and do
All too much for my mind, I find
Unfortunate, but true.

Followers are farcical
I know I have a few
Real writers come and go
As we lose the tried and true!

Numbers! They mean nothing
They’re there to keep us here
Tell your friends to make amends
Medium makes that clear.

Pay your dues, and read the news.
And write what Medium need.
More money in their coffers
Whilst bread and butter writers, bleed.

Dish out advice, write some vice.
Some sauciness and sex they say
Or pen an ode and hit the road
Write what makes your day.

After five years, I call out cheers
I love to write each day
Medium is the platform
Where we can have our say.
