Forgiveness

A purging of the soul

Dispense with the resentment
The anger and the ire
Replaced with a new contentment
No more restitution, hate or fire

No need for retributive justice
An absolution or reprieve
Or recalling an injustice
To prolong what we grieve

Forgiveness is liberation
A purging of the soul
A therapeutic rehabilitation
A way to make us whole

Moving on to the abundance
Letting go making amends
An easing of a strong stance
Becoming stronger friends

Let’s leave our ire behind us
Understand that we were hurt
Dispense with all the fuss
And other grief we can avert

And move on to absolution
A reprieve and clemency too
And find a new solution
A new start for me, and you

A new world is waiting
Of harmony and bliss
A full cup, our thirst is saying
Our lips yearn for the kiss

A unity of thinking
A rekindling of our souls
Our arms together, linking
New love filling our bowls
