Golden
Memories
In my previous life
That seems only minutes ago.
I had a job and kids, and a wife.
Worked hard and went with the flow.
I barely had time to ponder.
Reminisce or think of myself
And no opportunity to wander.
Or consider the wealth.
This life was golden and fulfilling.
Sharing dreams, hopes, and fears
When a shilling counted the money
And after work, we drank icy cold beers.
The body was willing and able.
No task was ever too much.
Always good food on the table
And for the family, always a soft touch.
The joys of a son and three daughters
Pride bursting from our hearts
Life sailing in all kinds of waters
Ups and downs, the fits, and the starts.
My previous life’s golden memories
These are feelings I’ll never forget.
Stored in the vault of life’s treasuries
These are times I’ll never regret.
