I Could Stay Quiet

A poem of intuition

I could stay quiet and be the night
and slip right by unseen,
though I know you’d not remember me,
or see where I have been.

I’m in your dreams I travelled there,
in the gray veil of the dark,
I move in most mysterious ways
and leave no apparent mark.

I can capture your feelings
and hide them out of sight,
or utter them into your ears
and cast a little light.

My language is a lilting song,
a breeze born from the ocean,
the salt you taste upon your lips,
are words that I have spoken.

I am the morning bird you hear,
the first word heard at dawn,
I mingle with the dewdrops,
long before you stretch and yawn.

So, if you yearn or need to learn,
why nature whispers quietly
watch for me I’m near not far
and brush past you nightly.

I could stay quiet and be the night,
or appear as a vision,
in time I’ll rhyme within your mind
I am your intuition.
