I Fly to Other Worlds
In my dreams
In dreams, I fly across the sky
free as a bird in flight
I hover, dive, and then glide
and merge into the night
In the darkened night-time skies
I skim over the oceans
Then soar the doors of heaven
In acrobatic motions
I speed and swerve and somersault
And tumble though, do not fall
then suspended like a sentinel
I usher in the birds’ first call
All is quiet below me
as dawn melts, her first blush
and paints the fields in golden hues
with nature’s practised brush
The dew sparkles like diamonds
prisms of light pierce the dawn
down below, in sketched landscapes
herald in a brand-new dawn
Then like Icarus, I flap my wings
And soar towards the sun
only to melt into infinity
when the day is done
My eyes flutter and open to
a world lost in my dreams
Where there is no normality
and nothing as it seems
In dreams, I fly to other worlds.
and whilst I’m fast asleep
I float and fly into the sky
into the unknown, I sweep
