I Sing

The blues

Thank you, YouTube, Jeff Beck, and Imogen Heap.

It is dedicated to the great Jeff Beck. You will be missed and never forgotten.

The grass folded me
In its lush green stalks
Tears flooded from my eyes.
The memory of our soulful rifts
It only made me want to cry.

I gazed out at the endless sky.
And clutched close to my breast.
The music that you gave me
When I was your very best
You’ve left me now
And that’s all you left.

Our memories and the music
My eyes are now blind.
Too blind to see
My hands in my empty pocket
Now love is gone
My soul dies too.

And lingers in the nether.
Unconnected by the thread of love
Lost floating in bad weather
My god told me to open your eyes
And when the pain has melted.
Like a looking glass, you’ll see the time.

When love was smooth as velvet
It is now wrapped in the cloak.
Of dusk and dawn
I peer towards the morning.
Of a new life and a new time.

Seen past clouds afar ‘a storming
One day I pray to leave behind.
The love missed and the mourning
And to remember not the music we had
And wait for a new dawning.

Then I’ll watch a new kaleidoscope.
Of cascading colour peek through.
And hold close to your tender breast.
New love for only two.

You know you indeed sing the blues.
And the wail of your guitar.
I picked the notes that you wrote.
As I drive past in my car.
