I Take

My opportunities

I take my opportunities,
They may never reappear,
I hold them in both of my hands,
Before they disappear.

Up early in the morning,
The clocks move by the hour,
Take a walk, sing, and talk.
Have breakfast, then a shower.

I’m headed back home today,
After a glorious sojourn,
Spending time with loved ones,
So, I’m up before dawn.

I seize my opportunities,
Often, they seem rare,
No saying where they’ll take me,
Lives without care.

Akin to relaxation,
The free and open road,
Blue skies and the rolling hills,
I return to my abode.

We never know what’s coming,
The future’s a blank page,
Life’s a gracious gift I have,
As I gently age.

It’s all about the moment,
And opportunity,
I don’t know what’s coming,
I’ll have to wait and see.

So, will I remember,
Moments that have passed,
And will they stay beside me,
How long will they last?
