I Watch my Changed Perspectives
Sometimes in disarray
As minutes turn to hours,
and hours into days,
I watch my changed perspectives,
Sometimes in disarray.
From shouts of running for cover,
And fear that we might die,
to mountains of mixed messages,
That turned our lives awry.
The rules and regulations,
Time to self-isolate,
Stay at home and do not roam,
Until a later date.
Missing friends and company,
We’re all in the same boat,
Fortify the castle,
And build another moat.
Tethered to the TV screen,
We watch the worldwide news,
the pandemic like a whirlwind,
It is sure to cause the blues.
As long days turn into weeks,
and weeks to months and more,
Are we the lucky country?
Or is there more in store?
No one knows the answer,
and as some creep from home,
the easing of restrictions,
He leaves much more alone.
It’s like a jigsaw puzzle,
with so many missing pieces,
on the floor pieces galore
Much like hit and misses.
People are the players,
We’re creatures of habit,
armed with changed perspectives,
Freedom is a magnet.
Is freedom a fallacy?
Take care before you leap,
don’t deny the danger,
Or enter the long sleep.
I’m so used to the ruse,
of staying safe at home,
I’m happy here by myself,
And you don’t need to roam.
In the end, I will bend,
My name is human nature,
to mix again with a friend,
And succumb to my behaviour.
We all need somebody,
Since the world’s gone out of kilter,
We’ll learn to do things differently,
I may be breathing through a filter.
Here and there and everywhere,
Old ideas have been unfurled,
and changed perspectives,
We are living in another world.
