I Wonder If
You remember
I wonder if you remember
the first time our eyes entwined
and if you wondered, just like me
the treasures we could find.
The walks and talks and byways
the waters mirrored in the heavens
sketching the sky in graphics
as she heaves and reddens.
As light pierces the morning sky
the sky signal’s a fresh warning
storm clouds soar above on high
heralding the new morning.
Gannet’s wheel and dip, then dive
like arrows from a bow
lured by silver sparks in the sea
target’s they only know.
The sky holds heaven’s mysteries
and stars that fly above
the rising of the silvery moon
and cooing of a dove.
I watch your image reappear
your moods drift in the heather
the deep connection that we have
thoughts that last forever
I didn’t know your name then
you seemed so far away
then right out of the sky, you stepped
and came to me today.
In another place and time
where heavens turn to gold
we’ll walk hand in hand together
and read stories never told.
