Images Appear

Like photographs.

It could be circumstantial
Or was it something that I said
It may have been allegorical
Or a novel that I’ve read

It may be mere conjecture
And could be facts misunderstood
Or some extenuating circumstances
All done for the common good

I’m seeking out the meaning
Nuances can easily evaporate
Too many smokescreens and veils
Or simply something that I ate

I’m lost in a mist of uncertainty
And cannot see the forest for the trees
I need to escape from this sticky web
Be free and blown by the breeze

My life can be full of details
Circumstances and points of view
Far beyond my comprehension
Knowing what’s false and what is true

I see the world through a window
Images appear like photographs
Meanings can sit between the lines
Hidden carefully in the paragraphs

The metaphors multiply in dozens
A lyrebird sings another’s song
I wake to new sounds in the morning
As days move languidly along
