In-Flight

In dreams.

In-flight in the night
I spread my wings and fly
To a place where there is space
I don’t even have to try.

Out of the night on wings of flight
I fly away in dreams
Where nothing is ever the same
In a world high above the jet streams.

I float in a world of fancy
Carried away on a wing and a prayer
My mind’s captivated by notions
On the steps up heaven’s stairs.

I drift miles over the ocean
And view the world from my domain
And feel the light and darkness
As the sun and moon wax and wane.

I’m perched on top of a mountain
Embedded in ice and snow
Then sliding down into green pastures
There’s no limit to where I can go.

I often fly with the birds in, formation
And melt away beyond the hills
Then soar to the heights of the summer sun
Then dive deep into winter chills.

The seasons carry me onwards
There’s no place I haven’t been
I break through enigmas when gliding
And memories slip under my skin.

Yesterdays are left behind me
Tomorrows don’t even exist
When I float out of the night
And disappear in the rain and the mist.
