Lonely

In a crowd.

Some seem to be so carefree,
Though lonely in a crowd,
And it’s often hard to see,
What feelings are allowed?

To surface on a sunny day,
And be my real self,
Soft breezes on the bay,
And feeling nature’s wealth.

Thoughts are scattered in the breeze,
Careless conversations,
A respite from the winter freeze,
Most with the best intentions.

I await my fate in solitude,
Me, myself, and I,
Fearless and with fortitude,
I needn’t try.

When it’s done and the sun,
Has sunk and all is still,
That is the end of all the fun,
Yet I can’t wait until.

Once more I hear from my dream,
She lightens up my life,
Just to have her near me,
A tune played on a fife.

Otherwise, I like to be alone,
And feel like the only one,
Am I the one and only?
Whose mind is on the run?

Except for magic moments,
I’m lonely in a crowd,
Time that’s only meant for me,
When I know it is allowed.
