Lost in Thought

Memories

I like to walk lost in thought and drink in the depth of life
The sky is my umbrella the wind and air I breathe my wife.

The morning sun provides my fun the rain softens the earth
And the flowers in my garden is where I see my real worth.

Nature is the sepulchre housing all that’s come and gone
The sea washes the memories that I depend upon.

The zephyrs of the autumn breeze waft o’er the mighty ocean
And where my life is headed, I have no whim or notion.

Lost in thought my mind wanders off to the cabin in the hills
Where all is quiet throughout the night and soft nuances are trills.

The chilly mist in morning air drips from the ghostly gums
And in the distance far far away men dance to different drums.

I yearn for the simplicity that existed when I was very young
When nature was my focus and freedom the song, I sung.

The focus now is lost in thought to new pastures lush and green
And the further journey of the soul into places yet unseen.

I wander on my whimsical way where each turn upon life’s road
Is waiting with new magic where never before I strode.

The sky eclipsed by rainbows sands untrodden on the shore
Where I can be free as the air and move into the evermore.

Beyond the snowcapped mountains is where I yearn to roam
Places where rainbows stretch as I am headed home.

And when I’ve reached the other side steeped and lost in thought
I’ll know I’ve reached the rainbows end equipped with what I’ve sought.
