Love

Lament.

The grass that folds beneath me
its lush green stalks are bent
Tears flooded from my eyes
I wonder where you went.
A lament and mournful feeling
I gaze at the endless sky
And clutch close to my breast
Your locket with a sigh.
When I was your very best
You’ve left me now
And that’s all that you left
My mind will only allow.
My eyes are blind
Too blind to see
My hand on the empty locket
Where on earth did you flee?
My soul dies and disappears
And lingers in the nether
Unconnected by the thread of love
Lost floating in the whether.
My god told me to open my eyes
And when the pain has melted
My eyes will open and, I’ll see
love can be smooth as velvet.
Now wrapped in the cloak
Of dusk and dawn
I peer towards the morning light
New dew upon the lawn.
Seen afar past clouds ‘a storming
One day I pray to leave behind
The love missed and the mourning
Looking in the lost and found.
Seeking a kaleidoscope
Of cascading colour to peek through
And hold close to a new tender breast
New love for only two.
You know it’s true I sing the blues
And wail my 12-string guitar
I pick the notes that I wrote
Afar beyond the mourning star.
