Mixed Messages

And different points of view.

Tethered to the TV screen,
I watch the midday news,
full of mixed messages,
and different points of view.

We hear that fear is in the air,
the virus is everywhere,
wash your hands a hundred times,
and don’t leave your lair.

We’re mesmerised by numbers,
as infection escalates,
then there’s talk of the economy,
as the debt inflates.

We’re going down the gurgler,
and let’s not hesitate,
let’s open up the borders,
before it is too late.

The Feds forecast the figures,
the States are in divide,
here and in every country,
wherever we reside.

There are mixed messages,
one day it’s save our lives,
next day it’s get back to work,
get out and take long drives.

It’s no wonder that the diatribe,
and different points of view,
leaves us wondering what on earth,
is the best thing to do.

Whilst some rush to “freedom”,
the rest are mesmerised,
sorting the mixed messages,
and protecting our demise.
