Muses
On my mind
Lost in contemplation
Flights so fanciful
Over hills and far away
Autobiographical.
I revel in a trance.
Then pause to light the fuse.
I contemplate, deliberate.
Then, at last, I ask my muse.
Fuelled by stimulation
My mind goes on a ride.
Creative inspiration
With nature as my guide.
In and out of attitudes
Thought waves reverberate
Guided by my guile
Intoned and incarnate.
Imagination gains momentum
This feeling is no ruse.
An epiphanic moment
And the passion of my muse.
Lingering thoughts of liberty
Saddled for the ride
Dark shapes on the hillside
She is nowhere left to hide.
Muddled by the mystery
Managed by my mind
Haunted by the history
Never left behind.
Once again, and now and then
When morning shakes the sky
I wake with muses on my mind.
And rarely have to try.
