My Dog and Confidante.
Earth Wind and Fire.
Some say a dog is just a pet
But I knew mine much better
She was red with a fiery fur
My confidante red setter.
I called her Earth wind and fire
It suited her demeanour
Cause if she ran with others
There was no canine near her.
She’d dig the earth with fire and mirth
And ran like a wind squall
She had a grin could pull you in
And that’s not all.
Because underneath her dusty fur
Once given a good wash
Revealed a fleece of fiery red
Some manners and panache.
She is my model dog
And we play every day
Then at night with delight
We sleep the night away.
It’s as well that she can’t read
Or she’d be blushing too
She is my dog and confidante
Unconditional, for we are two.
