My Music Mind

Is off the rails

All is still up until
The tempo tips the scales
And then its sweet surrender
my music mind is off the rails

I’ll rise and fall, and that’s not all
I’m beckoned to the beat
The lilt can be electric
Supple and so sweet.

I search for speech is out of reach
The brogue and intonation
Said with satisfaction
and soft, subtle inflection

Music talks in dulcet tones
The rhythm and the rhyme
Caught inside my memory
Repeating over time.

In the trees, the wind can sneeze
As birdsong breaks the day
Fractured sounds of silence
When nature’s out to play.

I walked into a symphony
Then past a budding band
into another place
In another land

Caught up in the tempo
The lilt and lullaby
Rock me off to sleep
with a songlike sigh
