One Foot in the Water

The other is on the shore.

Experts can be fallible
Mistakes can occur
With the best intentions
We may yet demur.

It’s not about love
or the common ground
It comes from the foundations
That sometimes is unsound.

North, south, east, and west
Signposts point the way
Where and in which direction
Has us in its sway.

Anyone’s open to an error
With no exemptions
Even though we try and try
With the best intentions.

There’s no right or wrong way
Only give and take
Emotions are quite genuine
Justification’s fake.

Who and why, when and where?
Are only incremental
Plucking examples from the pain
Centring on incidental.

Swift waters flow in torrents
And join forces to cascade
Mercurial misunderstandings
Is usually man-made

It’s easy to be correct
And know the salient facts
Harder to be fallible
Let go and relax.

One foot in the water
The other is on the shore
Balance flawed and compromised
Love lives in the heart’s core.
