Is this exaggeration
Stretching of the facts
Mumbo jumbo or hyperbole
Is it opposite attracts?

If I say I love, you
Are they only words?
Lying around like birdseed
Ready for the birds.

A little bit of rhetoric
Can go a country mile
A grin and wink and a hello
Puts a smile on my dial.

In the Garden of Eden
After the fig leaf fell
Will lascivious thoughts
Land me up in hell.

Overkill and purple prose
Abound northeast and west
Try a little out
And put it to the test.

Beware of the normality
Some people pull the wool
And say they’re pure as the driven snow
It’s all cock and bull.

Some say it’s time to pray.
When it may be hit or miss
Though when Monsieur Le Frog
Sits on a rose, that’s the time to kiss.

If it is the mundane
And safe track you wander
Be prepared if you dare
To disappear into the yonder.
