Into the blue yonder

I ponder on a wander,
A day to get away,
Into the blue yonder,
In the Hills out Jerrong way.

To get out and about,
And drive the mountain tracks,
And arrive at my cabin, far from Moorabbin,
To feel natures impact.

The clear air and eucalypts,
Stars that shine at night,
The warmth from the combustion stove,
And feeling of delight.

Hear the breeze in the trees,
And soak in sounds of silence,
Collect some wood because I should,
A place where space is timeless.

To rise and walk into the dawn,
The golden reds and greys,
And watch the shimmers and the sheen,
On the mirrored waters haze.

To see my breath and hear my heart,
The birdsong at sunrise,
Then to warm after dawn,
When daylight paints the skies.

The echoes in the valleys,
The swoosh of birds in flight,
The new dew on the gum leaf’s,
Left remnants of the night,

I ponder on a wander,
And my mind flies away,
Way out west, the very best,
Place for a peaceful stay.
