Quixotic

Thoughts

Lifted from the mundane for a moment
Thoughts have taken over common sense
Caught up in a quixotic daydream
An indulgence in extreme nonsense

Impetuosity charged with lightning.
Visionary starry-eyed, and unrealistic
One moment with feet firmly placed on the ground
Then next, an irrepressible romantic

Idealistic dreams may seem impossible.
Carried on moon dust by Wendy and Peter Pan
On a starry night tucked up in bed so tight
A smooth-skinned woman lay with a craggy mountain man

Dreams can come true given the belief
That is what I wish and feel I need
Be careful as the very thing I wished for
I may bite once I’ve planted the seed

On the beach at sunrise on a hot autumn morning
Swimming beneath the azure sea
A large fish swam swifter than greased lightening
They took the bait and grinned with glee

Analogies, metaphors, and reminders
And follies took in a mad moment
Into the fire boots and all, I jumped
Reckless quixotic though yet potent

Without the dichotomy of choices
Life would be mundane, predictable and poor
Never opening the cupboard
To see what else is in store

So please hand me a moment of madness
I’m up to taking on new surprises
I’m done with sitting, waiting, and yearning
And walking around in different disguises
