Poetic Essences
Reckoning
Where the haven hides.
Deep down in the valley
Shaded by the sun
The wild river is raging
As another day is done.
Picking up the pieces
Sorting out the signs
Dealing with the reckoning
That the night defines.
A wild and wooly winter
Ice and slippery slides
Personnel are missing
The inky darkness hides.
Heads thread information
Ears are cocked to hear
The slight sound of a footstep
Is there someone near?
Doubting in the darkness
The reckoning is nigh
At the absolution
Who will live and die?
Streaks of sunlight splitting
Pathways through the trees
And the smell of wood fire
Hanging on the breeze.
Down below the snow the shore
Holds back the glistening scene
Of the Sunsplash on the water
In an eye-blinding gleam.
Lead me to the labyrinth
Where the haven hides
Past the point of reckoning
Where my heart resides.
