Regardless
Of the weather.
Regardless of the weather,
We’ve all paid for the cruise,
So, we know there’ll never,
Be a good excuse.
I look forward to fun and laughter,
Drinks, cheese, and biscuits too,
And if we’re dripping after,
We know that’s nothing new.
Best to grin and bear it,
We do it every year,
And although I must admit,
We all enjoy good cheer.
Pam jests it’s the Queen Mary,
And she’ll sit on the balcony,
Though it’s more like the local ferry,
To say it’s a ship is baloney.
It’s really a trumped up tinny,
With only a crew of two,
With no room to dance or shimmy,
Just enough for the select few.
We cruise up a creek called the Currambene,
And stop at a wharf on the way,
And whilst some survey the scene,
Others just hope and pray.
That we don’t sink in the shallows,
Or be killed by a giant ray,
Or like a trip to the gallows,
Would ruin our day.
We slip safely back to harbour,
And walk off on wobbly legs,
A close shave by a very bad barber,
Then thankfully crawl into our beds.
