Roses
Gardens in sunshine and shade
When I talk about pleasure and moments of leisure
and gardens in sunshine and shade
above all the rest just one stands the test
are the roses that nature made.
They come in magnificent colours
and have soft petals pure as gold
sold in long stems roses are the gems
excite the senses as their petals unfold.
They play on the day of a happy event
or a token that says I love you
there’s nothing takes the place of a rose
no other expression will do.
Subtle smooth and delicately scented
dark reds as deep as midnight
creams of dreams pink soft as a mink
colours of pure delight.
When I wake up in the morning
they await me arranged in a vase
opened to greet me with miles of smiles
the stems magnified through the glass.
It’s all in the eye of the beholder
flowers can light up my life
a creation of delicate beauty
a lovely reason for being alive.
Pick me up don’t let me down
pink roses with petals on parade
joined in harmonic balance
roses those that are heaven made.
