Sangfroid
Where everything is different
Our world has turned upside down,
we’ve moved into a void,
where everything is different,
it seems we’re in sangfroid.
There is scare in the air,
a war that tore down walls,
in cool blood there is a flood,
of unanswered calls.
The temperature is rising,
hot heads increase the dread,
in the hospitals and sidewalks,
we walk amongst the dead.
It’s time to find another way,
composure and peace of mind,
to recalibrate the senses,
and leave the past behind.
Words are birds that fly away,
easier said than done,
remember love and hand in glove,
to stay and not succumb.
It’s clear fear is the flavour,
the taste left on the tongue,
from the old left in the cold,
to the very young.
Fighting is like lightening,
a bolt out of the blue,
surrender is a mender,
time to join the queue.
Sangfroid is the composure
in dangerous circumstance,
self-control, presence of mind,
there is no second chance.
