Scintillating Shards

Of sunlight.

Talk about times forgotten
Euripides and Sophocles
Rare care is the commodity
Painted, particular, and pleased.

The perfect pen of a playwright
A poet and tragedian
Purge and the poison ivy
And a painted chameleon.

And despite the cold inky night
The crush and cascade of ideas
Philosophy bursts into flowers
Then there are fears of tears.

Symbols as slippery as silver
Movement in quickstep mood
Fools floating in fulmination
Love dying in solitude.

Then there’s another moment
An epiphany of light
Caught in the cool of a shadow
Scintillated by shards of sunlight.

Night lingers far past sunup
Thoughts stored fulminate
And then burst into brilliance
And wake up before it’s too late.

Care is the rare commodity
A scare and eclipse of the lips
Caught talking in tongues in transition
A passé and twitch of the hips.
