Seventh Heaven

And stay forever

I’d love to go to seventh heaven.
And stay forever and a day.
And if there were six that came before
To visit each one on the way.

To bathe in liquid sunshine.
In suspended animation
And float freely up in the sky.
At the perfect destination

I’ve been to hell hundreds of times.
Where the heat’s hotter than Hades
And everything is overcooked.
Including sunburnt ladies

I’ve been to most places on the map.
And to a long list of new locations
But I’m tired from all the jet lags.
And it was near the statute of limitations.

Seventh heaven sounds like the right place.
To throw caution to the wind.
And not be reprimanded.
If I’ve erred in any way or sinned

A place to be natural
And live each day just as it comes.
And dance the rumba to the beat.
Of congas and different drums

Oh, for heaven’s sake
Why can’t I leave right now?
Where anything is up for grabs
A place to take my final bow

To get the tired old feet up.
And float around on the odd cloud.
Where nothing is forbidden
And everything’s allowed.
