Shifting

We come and leave alone

I move along like mercury
where have the moments gone
life is an enigma
we come and leave alone.

Mysteries of existence
move like shifting sands
one moment there’s a reason
that my mind understands.

Shifting like the wind
moving like the ocean
slippery and elastic
more like a magic potion.

I ponder the invariable
or is there such a thing
part of disillusionment
a bell without a ring.

A morning without sunshine
a night without the moon
a longing and a yearning
an everlasting swoon.

Shifting synchronicity
eclipsed by night and day
moving to the music
there’s no time to delay.

Change is where I came from
shifts denote the time
into a new perspective
as I move down the line.

Time will wait for no one
the seconds tick away
tick tock tick tock on the clock
there goes another day.
