Sideways

Scenery.

At a glance the views askance,
Seen lying on my side,
Sometimes the scene looks different,
From the place where I reside.

Scents of sideways scenery,
I’ve never seen it before,
Images so dreamily,
As we walk out the door.

Slipping down the slanted slide,
We wonder where it goes,
The imagery we both can’t hide,
To where nobody knows.

Written down in words of rhyme,
Said in sensual words,
Tell it to me one more time,
Music from the birds.

Smoke signals and slips of the tongue
Vestal virgins in a row,
Some are old others young,
We’re caught up in the undertow.

Out at sea only you and me,
Hardly sighting land,
Longing to see another tree,
And the silver sand.

Ask me unusual questions,
Watch the answers fly,
Defer the interjections,
To the by and by.
