Some Patterns
Adorn my persona.
Some patterns adorn my persona
Designs that captivate my eye
Decorations that leave me in a muddle
And perfect clouds that sweep the distant sky.
Then there are patterns of behaviour
Changing like the wind on autumn days
Cool changes drop temperature readings
Morning mists and evenings of blue haze.
Subtleties and scenery create the atmosphere
Along with feelings of delight
The softening shadows of evening
Create patterns massaged by the night.
Some patterns attract my senses
And other markings imprint on my mind
Some songs that are sung smoothly in harmonics
Invade the senses and are left behind.
Routine is a method of existence
Patterns I set up and follow each day
It provides me with a sense of achievement
In a smooth serene and calculated way.
Patterns form shapes and influences
That regulates and determines my life
They perch in my mind like bluebirds
And sometimes cut deeper than a knife.
Steep waves climb up the horizon
Then send out ripples to the sea
Forming in patterns of breakers
Washing the shore for my sore eyes to see.
