Some Thrills

Can kill

Do you dare to stop and stare
When something takes your fancy
Or do not care for extra flair.
Because it’s far too chancy.

Take a chance to sit on a branch.
To get a better view.
Defy the crack and have the knack
To fly off into the blue.

Okay, for birds and butterflies
Or they were floating in a parachute.
A member of the parakeet Para troops
Armed, firm and resolute.

Or stay at home and never roam.
In a deck chair of despair
And never try to multiply.
The deeds of double dare.

Life’s a risk. What have I missed?
If I’ve never tried
Take a dare with reasonable care.
And let luck be my guide.

Do you dare to say a prayer?
Then jump in the deep end.
Or to be more judicious.
And let safety be your friend.

Quantum leaps give me the creeps.
I’d instead not float in the air.
Stay on the ledge away from the edge.
And avoid another scare.

Staying safe is sensible.
A leap to love a thrill
Be careful what you ask for
Some thrills can kill
