Poetic Essences
Standing
Beside you.
I could have been standing beside you
With your words, you put me right there
I could feel your breath and presence
My mind was beyond repair.
Together we drifted in Dreamtime.
Like two swans on the lake
In a world furled in love songs
Between the earth and heaven’s sake.
The road signposts had no ending potential
We were flying o’er rivers and hills
And dived underneath the wild ocean
Fish with lungs then turned into gills.
In your arms, the wind sang softly
A love song and a new lullaby
We watched our deep eyes of emotion
And I didn’t have to try.
My heart sang a song so subtle
It reverberated deep in your breast
I heard your heart gathering speed sweetheart
Two fledglings are now leaving the nest.
In Scotland, the drums were beating
Cross the midlands into the south
I know you could hear me coming
And decipher the words in my mouth.
Then we floated off into the ether
On a cloud both cushioned by love
And watched as a bird winged by
On the sweet wings of a dove.
And when we walked, we disappeared.
Gone, gone, gone to sleep
Into a new dimension
A thousand kisses deep.
