Taking Care

Of business.

Taking care of business,
Is the only way to go,
I remain my witness,
It’s up to me to know.

Completing obligations,
Knowing what is right,
Being easy with donations,
Morning, noon and night.

I walk and talk and wonder,
Then reconcile again,
Living here down under,
Great droughts followed by rain.

There’re people and there’s family,
Friends and lovers too,
There are more and understandably,
There are the sacred few.

Mixed up in this racket,
The echoes in the rooms,
Then there’s the camaraderie,
Costumes and old heirlooms.

The people and the places,
Some words I’ve never heard,
The mood that interlaces,
The sweet song of a bird.

And when I’m lost and lonely,
A word brightens my life,
The word is love and only,
A little will suffice.

Taking care of business,
Paying all the bills,
As god is my witness,
True peace with no frills.
