The End of the Day

Sunset

Equidistant from the sun
clothed by the swirls of clouds
deep into the azure scythe
the rays of setting shrouds.

In the skies of Mandalay
dragon flies on soar a gliding
the red sun sets on cooling hills
incessant downward sliding

The Dragonflies symbolise the love
of those now far apart
and softly as a turtle dove
return right to the start.

Of interrupted interludes
too secret love to tell
from the mists above the Bay
to oceans in a shell.

A secluded beach is beckoning
as the sun slowly descends
along the rocky shoreline
through halls of deserted bends

Hardly ever stepped upon
a secret destination
waiting for the train to come
in sky form at the station

On the road to Mandalay
on roads we’ve never trod
one ear to the setting sun
our revered and fiery god.

Cool nights in mountain havens
ethereal moments in the air
the one brings us together
in arms without a care.
