The Medium of Helium

A poem of release

The medium of helium
inflates me and I fly
released in big blue balloons
high into the sky.

I’ll stretch my wings as my heart sings
and float in freedom for a while
then with words release a bird
make rhymes and make you smile.

I’ll visit friends at the ends
of places on the map
and share my flair until night
before I take a nap.

My necessity is a recipe
of magic metaphors
and every time I write in rhyme
I open up new doors.

I feast on the fantastic
smorgasbord of words
written by Medium members
delivered by the birds.

When I wake it’s time to take
a sniff of helium
and fly high into the sky
on the wings of Medium.

You are my daily diet
without you I’d be lost
through you I display an array
of rivers I have crossed.

Each day armed with a new idea
I write on Medium
and float up high in the sky
blown up with helium.

An ode dedicated to my fearless writing friends on Medium.
