The Simple Things

In life.

How much is enough and what’s sufficient
Is it measured by my daily bread?
What quantity do I need to be happy?
Can it equate to something simple that I said?

More than enough is how I see possessions
That mounts up and crowds an empty space
Do I really need these special distractions?
To satisfy my mind and interface.

Do I really need to always keep a full tank?
Would a little less suffice and be enough
Would it harm me to live with fewer accruements?
And give away all my extra stuff.

I equate possessions to satisfaction
Deficits I find in my self-esteem
A poor soul needs sustenance and salving
And a serving of strawberries and cream.

Love is the only known elixir
That fills me up and always satisfies
And to hear the wind sing in the treetops
And the quietude to listen to bird’s morning cries.

When I walk alone in the morning
Breathing the fresh morning air
I have myself beside me when I’m roaming
And ample sustenance joins me without a care.

The simple things in life are panaceas
A part of my being and daily bread
They fill and satisfy all my needs
And keeps my soul happy and well-fed.
