The Sun
Explodes the day
The halo on the hill’s surrounds,
Horizons in the haze,
Then the sun explodes the day,
In a crimson blaze.
I set it up, break it down,
And then, like a thief,
I let the air out of my lungs,
Sighs of slow relief.
I said it wouldn’t happen,
And yet I tried again,
Without my heart from the start,
And sighs of deep chagrin.
So, I’ve cleared the decks; it seems,
No more one-to-one,
Free of expectations,
And clearly on the run.
Yesterday’s memory,
There is no current list,
and in my mind, I find
nothing gained is missed
So, I settle down to see,
If dreams have come true,
Lights and liberation,
Illuminate dark blue.
I walk and talk and tantalise,
The mounds of memories,
Then entertain a daydream,
With my reveries.
Step by step, I intercept,
And then, beyond belief,
I sanitise my senses with,
Sighs of relief.
