The Tree of Life

I whisper and gesticulate

Touch me and I’ll tremble
test the elasticity
smooth and sinuous, sensuous too
I stand with dignity.

I whisper and gesticulate
and shimmer wave and shift
I shuffle in the morning breeze
I’m nature’s living gift.

Touch my bark with tenderness
feel my seductive skin
pass your palm and trace my balm
and feel the love within.

My expression makes it easy
to join me in the dance
I’m manna here from heaven
and not placed here by chance.

I stretch my arms and lift my hands
and reach out for the sky
I shake bend and when it’s late
I heave a languorous sigh.

My leaves are my adornment
my limbs are strong and smooth
I dance, sing and satisfy
your senses that I soothe.

I’ll lead you down the garden path
and tower high above
and when you gaze into my depths
I answer you with love.

I am the tree of life
and since the dawn of time
I sprout grow and perform for you
to nature’s pantomime.
